History Day 2017

Launching our new Minor in Pacific Rim Studies.

Thanks to the 85 students from the Thames Valley and Lambton Kent District School Boards who joined us for Huron History Day, October 5th.  Keynote speaker Dr. Michael Szonyi, Professor of Chinese History and Director of the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard University, introduced digital history methods to analyse Ming Dynasty military policy, and the fascinating detail of family genealogies, to tell of “A Soldier’s Life in 15th-Century China.”

The day included workshops with Dr. Kenneth Duggan (History at Huron and recipient of the Pollard Prize for 2017), Amber Lloydlangston,  Museum London, Nicole Aszalos, Museum of Ontario Archaeology and Devon Elliott, Western University History Department and a visit to Huron’s HIST1801E Controversies in Global History.

Huron History Day is supported by the W. Galen Weston Fund for British History at Huron
