Manitoulin Island Summer Historical Institute

MISHI is an annual week-long summer institute on Manitoulin Island focused on Anishinaabe studies and coordinated jointly by the History of Indigenous Peoples Network (York University) and the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation (OCF). Its focus is to bring together students, teachers, knowledge-holders, artists, and Elders to learn about Anishinaabe history and culture; the 2019 theme was Anishinaabekwe (women) leadership. Huron History students in Dr. Peace’s HIST3296 course participated in the week-long field school and continued their work in the Fall semester at Huron. The Fall showcase of the Centre for Undergraduate Research Learning (CURL) at Huron featured their research projects.
