All CURL workshops are held in the Huron Library CURL Studio.

RSVP to curl@uwo.ca to secure your spot—and some pizza! (We know you can’t learn on an empty stomach 😁)

Prepare to Pitch 1: The CURL Fellowship Process

In this first session of the Prepare to Pitch series, we will provide an overview of the CURL Fellowship and application process. We will touch on a number of important aspects including eligibility criteria, approaching potential faculty mentors, the assessment process, and potential project deliverables. We will also discuss how to brainstorm and refine a potential topic, prepare for the written proposal, and provide examples of past projects. Students at any stage of the process are invited to attend this session, even those who are simply curious about CURL!

Fall Term: Monday, September 21, 5:30-6:30PM

Winter Term: Monday, February 1, 5:30-6:30PM

Prepare to Pitch 2: Research Proposal Workshop

The second session of CURL’s Prepare to Pitch series is geared towards students who are looking to refine their applications. Do you have a few final questions that you’d like answered before submitting your proposal? Some blanks to fill in? Come, ask away! Would you like some help polishing your proposal, or some feedback? This is the session for you. We will workshop proposals together, help each other conceptualize and speak to different audiences, and draw out and develop the story (“elevator pitch”) of your proposal.

Fall Term: Monday, October 5, 5:30-6:30PM

Winter Term: Monday, February 22, 5:30-6:30PM

Expanding Your Research Toolkit: Digital Research Methods

This workshop introduces students to a range of digital and computational research methods (including mapping, network analysis, text analysis, visualization, and data-driven approaches) and explores the kinds of questions these methods are designed to answer. Through examples drawn from the humanities, social sciences, interdisciplinary research, and activist projects, participants will consider how alternative methodologies might enrich their own research projects and fellowship applications. No prior technical experience is required.

Fall Term Date: Mon., November 8, 5:30-6:30PM

Join Writing Services Manager Dr. Luigi De Angelis for a workshop designed to help you feel confident and ready for your big moment. 😍 You’ll learn how to develop stage presence, “find your character,” use your voice, and manage your nerves. These skills will support you in presentations, interviews, networking, and anywhere you want to make a memorable impression!
