Published in 1863, Coleridge’s Rime of the Ancient Mariner features twenty black and white illustrated plates by Joseph Noel Paton.
The edition is bound in maroon leather and pebbled maroon cloth, with the title stamped in gilt on the cover.
Paton’s plates embraced the Pre-Raphaelite movement and the Victorian revival of medievalism.
