Boxing gloves

Summary:

Boomerz was a non-profit gym located in downtown London, Ontario. The club offered boxing classes, a spacious training area equipped with heavy bags, and professional-grade rings for sparring. Boomerz built strong community ties by partnering with organizations and even helped raise over $500,000 through the Fight to End Homelessness Charity Boxing event to support unhoused youth. Founded in 2023, Boomerz was created to carry on Lawrence Boom’s legacy of using boxing to support underserved youth. President and co-owner Marc Pagcaliwangan desired to continue to expand the reach of Boomerz in order to help more locals develop in both boxing and as individuals, but needed to determine the correct pathway. Alternatives included continuing with current operations, relocating to a new building, offering classes for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, or changing Boomerz's ownership structure to a corporation. Students are expected to assess Boomerz’s internal capabilities, external environment, and strategic position. Using both qualitative and quantitative analysis, they will create financial forecasts to determine the best course of action. This case outlines a general management case and is designed for an introductory business class at the undergraduate level.
