Introduction:
In April 2024, Mayumi Sato, an assistant credit manager at Cavellio & Howard Industrial Capital (CH), was reviewing the request for financing presented by Caleb Oak for Ashmere Landscaping Services (Ashmere). Ashmere offered landscape design, construction, and maintenance. They were requesting a loan for a new dump truck to expand their operations. Sato had been working at CH for a few years and was instructed not to approve any risky requests, so she had to carefully assess Ashmere’s suitability for the loan.
