Ed Gregorich

Ed Gregorich is an Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada soil scientist working at the Central Experimental Farm in Ottawa. He studies soil carbon cycling and the effects of changes caused by land management and agricultural practices on soil health. He is an adjunct professor in Geography and Environmental Studies at Carleton University and a fellow of the Canadian Society of Soil Science and the Soil Science Society of America, and has served as a member of the UN International Panel on Climate Change, which shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. He has led numerous international projects, including a CIDA project to develop on-farm soil and water conservation methods in the mountainous region of northern Vietnam. He also served on the advisory board of a non-profit organization working to establish a training center for environmental stewardship and agricultural productivity in Ethiopia. He completed two terms as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Environmental Quality and was an associate editor for the Journal of Environmental Quality, Agriculture, Ecosystems and Environment and the Canadian Journal of Soil Science.
