Hi all! My name is Lauren Giugno, MA, RP, CCC and I’ve joined Huron faculty this Fall.  I was born and raised in London, Ontario, and completed an Honours Specialization in Psychology at Brescia University and an MA in Counselling Psychology from Western University. I run a private practice as a Registered Psychotherapist in the London community. I practice from a person-centered and integrative therapy approach that is trauma-informed, change-oriented, strength-based and affirmative.
Outside of my practice, I’ve loved working with students in various capacities over the years, as a mental health counsellor in Health Services on main campus, and as a contract faculty member at Brescia University.  I am thrilled to be joining Hurons psychology faculty in offering an Introduction to Counseling and Psychotherapy course. I am passionate about mental health advocacy, and providing learning environments that are intimate, inclusive and safe. It is a privilege to encourage learning that goes beyond the textbook, and provides students with opportunities to develop awareness of self and others, learn practical hands-on skills within helping professions and gain direction in their own educational/career paths in the field of psychology. I learn so much from the students I teach and value their feedback in creating a learning experience that is valuable for all.
In my short time on campus, I can already feel the warmth and close knit community among students and faculty. I look forward to getting to know you all. If you see me around, please say hi!
