The act of physically being and exploring in a place so rich in our project’s history created a lasting impact on me and my fellow students. This project was unique in the way it showed me how historic newspapers and current memory are connected, and offered me a platform to present my research in an easily understandable way. I learned that primary research is much more difficult than it seems. The project’s openness to individual research was so important to the memorable nature of my work. I felt like I was participating in something much larger than I ever had before. Overall, the experience was humbling and very rewarding.

Mapping Connections: Black Abolitionists in Canada and Britain Ava Olds The Phantoms trip was the most memorable and beneficial piece of research I have ever done throughout my four years of university.
