This set of maps is meant to tie together this year’s Phantoms of the Past project by showing the works that were researched in space. By telling the stories of these books through maps, we hope to make these stories more engaging and accessible for a general audience. When viewing these narratives in isolation, the broader connections of these individuals to the wider world get lost, as there is nothing to compare them to. With the final map, we hope to bring the stories together and show how these abolitionists came together in certain places along their very different journeys.
