Provenance A: Binding  Bound in early blind-tooled calf. Spine has six compartments without title.
Provenance B: Ownership Marks Copy contains the armorial bookplate of Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex (1773-1843), the inscription of “George Edward Adams, Exeter College 1845” and “John L. Haney July 12th, 1938”, and ink purchase note reading “This book purchased at the sale of HRH, the Duke of Sussex for 18-[?]” on inner front pastedown. Pictorial bookplate of John Louis Haney on first front endpaper. Haney identifies all other marks of ownership in copy with added notes in ink on inner front pastedown. Bookdealer descriptions for 1619 copies pasted on inner front pastedown and front endpapers. Early ink inscription at head of title page has date of “1619” and price of “10 [?]”. Additional owner’s signature on title page blotted out.
Provenance C: Annotations Copy contains long genealogical ink note on p.159 by George Edward Adams. Genealogy begins with Edmund Lockayne and ends with George Edward Adams. Ink note linked to Adams’ requested name change to George Edward Cockayne
