Provenance A: Binding Bound in early blind-tooled calf with rough turn-ins. Rebacked spine has gilt ornaments in six of seven compartments. “Brooke Catalogue and Succession of the Kings” in gilt in compartment two. Date of “1619” also in gilt at foot.
Provenance B: Ownership Marks Copy contains various marks of ownership. Title page contains early signature of Will[iam] Dyer with price “pretium 6s[?]” and early ink signature of “Richard Saverie.” Ashmolean Museum Duplicate stamp and Oxford Architectural and Historical Society Stamp on verso of title page. Gift inscription of “George Veare Brackenbridge Esq of University College, Oxford” repeated twice on inner front pastedown. Oxford Heraldry society armorial bookplate and Columbia University Libraries bookplate on inner front pastedown. Two shelfmarks, one “C3” on a label, and another “XXXVIII C.5” in ink also on same pastedown.
Provenance C: Annotations Copy contains annotations in several early hands. A longer note on front endpaper discusses the copy of Brooke’s Catalogue with Camden’s annotations at the Bodleian. Annotations on front endpaper in an early hand. Several early cross-references to John Speed, Historie of Great Britain, Thomas Fuller, Holy Warre, William Camden, Britannia and John Selden, Titles of Honor found throughout.
