Provenance A: Binding  Copy bound in contemporary light brown calf with gilt centrepieces and gilt acorn cornerpieces over pasteboards. Vellum waste used for binding support found in gutter of inner front board. Copy has reddened fore-edges. Faded ink title “York” also present on fore-edges. 
Provenance B: Ownership Marks Copy contains MS annotation on verso of title page reading “[?]s. Buharck 1676”. Various shelfmarks, some crossed out, on inner pasteboard and library book label. Copy belonged to the collection of Bishop John Moore (1646-1714), purchased and given to the University of Cambridge by King George I, with Library ‘Royal’ bookplate.
Provenance C: Annotations Copy contains coloured armorials with a small number of ink corrections and strikethroughs. See entries for Frances Villiers and Francis Bacon. Strikethrough on sigs. C6r and L5v consistent with several other copies. Additional MS. annotation on sig. 2L4v.
