Spine contains six compartments with title “Brooke’s Succession” on brown leather label in compartment two, date “1622” at foot, and floral ornaments in remaining compartments, all in gilt. |

Title page contains the early inscription of “Robert Cary 1631,” likely a reference to Robert Carey, First Earl of Monmouth (1560-1639), son of Henry Carey, First Baron Hunsdon (1526-1596). |
