Provenance A: Binding  Bound in gold-tooled brown mottled calf with gilt fore edges and inner dentelles, marbled pastedowns and endpapers. Spine contains six compartments with title “Brooke Catalogue of Nobility” in compartment two, date of “1619” in compartment three, and repeated ornaments in remaining compartments, all in gilt. Stamp reading “Bound by Riviere and son” on verso of front endpaper.
Provenance B: Ownership Marks Copy contains inscription on verso of title page reading “Au pere de Creny[?]” Folger Shakespeare Library leather bookplate on front pastedown and Folger paper bookplate on back pastedown. For additional notes, see the Folger Shakespeare Library Catalogue.
Provenance C: Annotations Copy is heavily annotated from beginning to F3r and then occasionally thereafter in an early hand. The MS. annotations provide French translations of Brooke’s English narratives.
