Provenance A: Binding  Bound in gold-tooled brown calf with gilt frames, corners and centerpieces on both boards. Holes for ties are still present. Rebacked spine contains gilt shield in five of seven compartments. Compartment two contains gilt title “Brooke Heraldry”. MS. library call number on paper at foot of spine.
Provenance B: Ownership Marks Copy contains pictorial bookplate of John Brand (1744-1806) with pencilled initials “RB” and armorial bookplate of Durham Cathedral with “Eccles Dunelm” on inner front pastedown. Recto of front endpaper contains inscription “This book 1619 is marked at 6sh? in Wagstaffe? Catalogue for 1776”. Title page contains inscriptions reading “Liber Eccles Dunelm” and Robert Surtees (1779-1834) reading “Rob[ert] Surtees Esq[uire] of Mainsforth”, who donated the copy to Durham Cathedral. Ink library stamp of “Cathedral Library Durham” also found on title page.
Provenance C: Annotations Copy contains MS. corrections and supplements throughout as well a longer note in an early hand on Errata reading “Diverrs errours to be in formed as he? diverted uppo[n] his second Impression coming out of this Book which was at first called in and altered?”. Additional inscription reading “Emeneata” in a different hand on the same page. Errata contains extensive supplementary MS. corrections in an early hand, including references to page and line numbers not found in the printed list of amendments.
