The Huron Letterpress Studio acquired its first press in 2019 with inspiration from the Letterpress Studio at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oberlin.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oberlin College<\/a>,<\/strong> support from the print shop at<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fanshawepioneervillage.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fanshawe Pioneer Village<\/a> <\/strong>and the generous donation of an antique Kelsey Press and type cabinets from Andrea Klein of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebooksellerinc.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Bookseller<\/a> <\/strong>in Akron, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, the Studio has been an integral part of the Huron community, providing unique hands-on learning opportunities to various programs through <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.huronresearch.ca\/letterpress-studio\/class-tours\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Class Tours<\/a> <\/strong>and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.huronresearch.ca\/letterpress-studio\/student-blog-posts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Student Projects<\/a>.<\/strong><br \/>The Studio team also engages the broader community through collaborating on events and research projects, and running presentations at open houses and conferences. The team is composed of faculty and student assistants who receive letterpress training and help facilitate student engagement. These flatbed presses use a process similar to the infamous Gutenberg press. Our Kelsey Press is the Excelsior model.
