The scene depicts a loon, a thunderbird, and a serpent all living under the same sun. The loon represents loyalty, and the thunderbird is a messenger. In Ojibwa culture, the serpent symbolizes healing, and due to its ability to shed its skin, it can be associated with re-birth.
