The eagle is the leader of all the winged animals; it flies the highest and carries messages to the creator; but it also clears the path for the people as they travel through life. The spirit world connects us with the animals, and their spirits are used in ceremonial dances such as the eagle, bear, and buffalo; for healing and protecting the people.
