The W. GALEN WESTON FUND FOR BRITISH HISTORY AT HURON<\/strong> is a generous endowment that supports the teaching of British History in Huron’s History Department.<\/h4>\n

In 2026, the \u00a0W. Galen Weston Fund supported our Phantoms of the Past research trip to London, Bath, and Manchester, where students, faculty, and community partners engaged in place-based history and archival research at the British Library; John Rylands’ Library; the National Archives; the Black Cultural Archives; the American Museum, Bath; and the Royal Library.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Past projects have included annual workshops, an African Canadian Doctoral Fellowship, Black History Research Fellowship, and three previous Phantoms of the Past research trips to Bath, Bristol, and London. The Weston Fund supports Huron\u2019s institutional commitment to address anti-Black racism in the historical context of the British Empire, as well as the legacies of settler colonialism and Indigenous activism. Many Weston Fund projects build on Huron History\u2019s established program of innovative teaching and research on the histories of enslavement, emancipation, Indigenous resistance, and movements for racial justice in Canada.<\/strong><\/p>\n
