Lewa Babalola<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Lewa presented her independent research on misophonia at the Interdisciplinary Conference in Psychology (ICP-CIP), hosted at the university of Ottawa. She also attended a variety of presentations on topics ranging from youth homelessness and resilience to the effects of a mindfulness practice on the brain.<\/p>\n

Gillian Hunniset<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gillian travelled to the Canadian Society of Women in Philosophy Conference. The conference’s theme was “Aftermath”, and she attended <\/span>numerous<\/span> talks on a variety of topics ranging from eco-friendly death practices to the impact of COVID-19 on families and child rearing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kyoko attended the Annual Conference of the Japan Studies Association of Canada, where she presented her research about\u00a0the cultural trauma of the 3\/11 disaster in Shinkai\u2019s <\/span><\/span>Suzume no <\/span>Tojimari<\/span><\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ana Miranda Guimaraes<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

At the 33th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Society for Brain, Behaviour, and Cognitive Sciences, Ana presented a poster about her investigation into rhythmic processing\u2019s influence on the statistical learning of language.\u2060<\/p>\n

Cogie Cogan<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Cogie was a visiting scholar at VINE Sanctuary, an ecofeminist rescue in Vermont that rehabilitates farm animals saved from abusive situations.<\/p>\n

Valentina completed research and volunteer work at Sri Lankan plantations as part of WUSC and CECI’s Uniterra program<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Andrew French<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Andrew explored historical locations around the GTA related to two famous Canadian poets, Al Purdy and Leonard Cohen.<\/p>\n

Shelby Wilson Powell<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

At DH@Guelph 2017, Shelby participated in digital humanities workshops, where she learned how to integrate archival research into innovative multimedia presentations.<\/p>\n

Alex Ryken<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Alex visited the Canadian Psychological Association’s annual convention, where she learned about a range of topics from the psychology of creating reality TV shows to the post-traumatic effects of policing.<\/p>\n

CURL Travel Grants support students who travel to present their research findings at a scholarly conference. This funding can be used for the cost of gas money, public transportation, housing, registration, etc. related to the conference. Other purposes, such as travel to workshops or to visit archives necessary to a given extracurricular research project, may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Not sure if your travel is eligible?
