Protecting Our Land

Acrylic on canvas
96″ x 48″
All nations coming together to protect the land in unity with nature, the air, and the sea animals. This imagery speaks of the traditional stories of the Ojibwa and the artist’s intention is to use art to encourage the telling of the tales in order to keep the Anishinaabe spirit alive in today’s world. The chiefs are passing on the teachings of the seven grandfathers (love, respect, truth, wisdom, honesty, bravery, and humility). The loons represent loyalty while the fish represent prosperity. The turtle is known as Mother Earth and signifies good health and a long life. The beaver is creative.
